Gamers of the DMMO-RPG YGGDRASIL in Overlord are called players, entering the virtual world through a Neural Nano-Interface and building a single avatar.

Player is the term for the people who play the DMMO-RPG YGGDRASIL in Overlord, entering the virtual world through a console called the Neural Nano-Interface. A player is limited to a single avatar, so the whole of the game comes down to choosing racial and class levels well and building that one character into something worth having, whether that means combat power or a fully developed non-combat trade such as cooking or alchemy. A player can normally know up to three hundred spells, and at the top of the level range fights are settled with eighth tier magic and above. Solid information is scarce, since knowledge counts as power in YGGDRASIL and most players guard what they learn rather than post it. In the New World the word is known to very few, and those who know it disagree about what it means, some treating players as a race and others as deities.
