Jet Testania

Jet Testania (ジエット・テスタニア) is a sixteen-year-old commoner of the Baharuth Empire and a point-of-view character in the Overlord Web Novel. He is handsome in spite of himself: sallow, shadowed under the eyes, with a generally gloomy air about him, and an eyepatch over one eye. The eye is the reason for it. It carries a talent that lets him see through illusions, and Arche Eeb Rile Furt, whose family his mother worked for, spotted it in him and told him to keep it covered, since people who set an illusion tend to notice when somebody breaks it. His father was gone early, and his mother is bedridden with an illness nobody can cure, so he works part-time producing spices and salt with the small amount of first-tier magic he commands, saving toward a magic item that might help her, and keeps up his studies on top of that. He has no love for nobles as a class, and a sharp eye for which of them mean what they say.
