Imperial Magic Academy

The Imperial Magic Academy is a state funded school of the Baharuth Empire in Overlord, based in Arwintar, where magic casters are trained. Fluder Paradyne, who held the post of Imperial Court Magician for 150 years, founded it as an answer to a problem of access: commoners have little time to educate themselves and a tutor costs money. Only citizens of the Empire are admitted, entry means passing a difficult examination, and the strongest candidates attend tuition-free or on scholarships. Most of its students cannot actually perform magic, and the academy sits somewhere between a high school and a university, with magic woven through the curriculum because magic is woven through society. A single cafeteria serves every year, deliberately, so that students mix; the basic lunch is free, poorer students are prioritized, and poison detection magic is cast on the food.
