Great Wall

The Great Wall is the man-made barrier that protects the eastern borders of the Roble Holy Kingdom in Overlord. It was built to withstand the massed demi-human tribes of the Abelion Hills to the east, the ground between the Holy Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy, and keeping it at full capacity takes a great deal of manpower held permanently on site. Attacks still come. The gravest of them is remembered as the Long Rain, a night attack by a race called the Srasch who climbed the wall and pushed deep into Holy Kingdom territory before they were driven back, at the cost of several villages. Against races several times a human's size, or able to fly, or holding some special ability, a wall is no obstacle at all, and that danger pushed the kingdom's nobles into a law of conscription, so that every citizen who reaches the right age trains for the defense of the nation.
