God-kin

God-kin is the term used in the New World of Overlord for the descendants of the Six Great Gods. They share a bloodline and genetic traits with ancestors of six hundred years ago, and those who know of them treat them as demigods. Their strength is not held to the limits that bind ordinary humans, and they carry equipment left behind by the Six Great Gods themselves. Those who awaken the power of that ancestry are stronger again than the rest, and only about three awakened God-kin of the Slane Theocracy are known. Because so few are born, the Theocracy's higher ups have quietly pressed the captain of its Black Scripture to father more children by his wives, an archaic approach to raising the birthrate. Theocracy law permits a God-kin more than one wife, though not every one of them marries.
