Gazef Stronoff in Overlord is the Warrior Captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom and King Ramposa III's bodyguard, a commoner-born tournament champion regarded as the Kingdom's strongest warrior.
Strongest among the warriors of the Re-Estize Kingdom is Gazef Stronoff, the Warrior Captain and personal bodyguard of King Ramposa III. Born a commoner in a frontier village, he takes up the mercenary trade, receives his extraordinary swordsmanship from the former adamantite adventurer Vesture Kloff Di Laufen, and wins the royal grand tournament, defeating Brain Unglaus in the final to earn his place at the king's side.
Because only nobles may hold knighthood in the Kingdom, Gazef commands his own Warrior Troop instead, and his name draws respect across the nation. He is loyal, plainspoken, and ready to spend his life for the Kingdom's people. The king sends him to hunt the knights ravaging frontier villages, a pursuit that carries him toward Carne Village.
