Free City of Vadis
A small independent city of the New World in Overlord, built jointly by the Baharuth Empire and the Re-Estize Kingdom to hold back the undead of the Katze Plains, and home to those practiced at fighting them.
The Free City of Vadis is a small independent city in the New World of Overlord, built as a bulwark against the undead of the Katze Plains. The Baharuth Empire and the Re-Estize Kingdom raised it jointly, along with other towns meant to keep that undead-prone region in check, and although Vadis accepts funds from both it has never belonged to either. Its stated purpose is to protect all living beings, and its population is made up of people practiced at fighting the undead: temple forces, adventurers, imperial knights and mercenaries. When a party goes out to cull the plains, an inspector goes with it, keeping count of the undead killed so that the reward can be paid out correctly.
