The Eight Greed Kings are figures out of the New World's past in Overlord, said to have appeared five hundred years ago and to have conquered the world with overwhelming power before their own greed set them against each other. Folk tellers have stretched the tales considerably, describing them as beings taller than the sky, shaped like dragons, who stole the power of God and ruled by absolute strength, able to destroy whole countries and entire species in an instant. What the stories agree on is the shape of the aftermath: the strongest races of the world were broken, humans were left room to grow, and Tier Magic spread across the continent. The Slane Theocracy regards them as great sinners.
