Crack
Cracks in Overlord: Mass for the Dead are glowing fissures in reality that scar the New World after the Catastrophe, spilling out monsters, birthing Chaos Beasts, and disrupting the world's magic.
Purple fissures scar the world of Overlord: Mass for the Dead, the game set in its own telling of the Overlord premise. Called Cracks, or World Cracks, they are wounds in the space of reality itself, appearing throughout the New World and even within Nazarick in the aftermath of the calamity its people call the Catastrophe, which precedes the Great Tomb's transportation by roughly half a year.
The fissures glow with strange energy and release monsters. Creatures that linger near them lose their minds, twisted by a leaking taint into Contaminated Beasts, while the Cracks themselves give birth to Chaos Beasts, beings wrought of a substance called Chaos Stones. Their interference disrupts the world's magic, making transfer spells unreliable and resurrection impossible, and their cause is unknown; no written history mentions them, and every nation carries its own theory.
