Cocytus in Overlord is the Floor Guardian of the fifth floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, an insectoid warrior created by Warrior Takemikazuchi who oversees the tomb's martial defense with a code of honor.

Cocytus stands two and a half meters tall with the look of an insect walking upright, a fusion of mantis and ant sheathed in spikes like icicles, his tail twice the length of his body and his jaws strong enough to shear through a hand. His heart is a warrior's: he honors fighting spirit wherever he finds it, prefers a fair test of arms, and studies every battle he watches. Among Nazarick's often insular guardians he is unusually open to outsiders who prove their courage, and he likens himself to the sword that carries out his master's wishes.
