James Rhodes' second suit of armor, a purpose-built military machine from Tony Stark that comes to fly under a red, white, and blue repaint and a new public name, Iron Patriot.
The second armor Tony Stark built specifically for James Rhodes, the War Machine Armor: Mark II replaces the borrowed prototype Rhodes flew before it. Where the original was a repurposed Stark suit, the Mark II is designed from the start as a military machine: streamlined, calibrated to Rhodes, and fitted with weapon-grade repulsors, arm-mounted miniguns, missiles, and a twin-barreled gun on its back that can track over either shoulder. Rhodes uses it on anti-terrorist operations around the world, including strikes against Ten Rings cells. In the wake of the Chitauri invasion of New York, the suit is repainted in a stars-and-stripes motif and Rhodes is rebranded as Iron Patriot, a friendlier public face for the government's armored deterrent.
