A True Believer in the Lighthouse who holds that S.H.I.E.L.D. will come to save humanity, Virgil is one of the few humans there who can fly the Trawler out to Fragment 616.
Virgil is a member of the True Believers living in the Lighthouse, a group who hold that S.H.I.E.L.D. will one day come and save humanity. He is one of the few humans there able to fly the Trawler, which he uses to reach Fragment 616 and keep contact with the survivors on the surface, among them Owen Shaw. Virgil is close to Tess and Deke Shaw, and he taught Flint how to fly the craft.
