Tom Ridenhour

Captain Tom Ridenhour runs the 29th Precinct of the New York City Police Department, having come up through Midtown Homicide and taken over the Harlem posting from Priscilla Ridley. He is a by-the-book commander in a neighborhood that keeps generating exceptions: his precinct's best detective, Misty Knight, comes back to the job short an arm and long on independence, and the local habit of bulletproof vigilantes delivering unconscious suspects to his desk offends his entire understanding of the law. Harlem is also personal. Ridenhour has been married to his wife Karla for thirty-five years, but in high school he spent three of them dating a girl named Mariah Stokes, and Harlem never quite lets a man forget his history.
