S.A.B.E.R.

S.A.B.E.R. stands for Strategic Aerospace Biophysics and Exolinguistic Response, which is a long way of naming the layer of defense that sits above the atmosphere. Nick Fury runs it, and he runs it from a station in orbit rather than from anywhere on the ground, having set out to build the most involved aerospace defense system Earth has attempted. Its crew is not all human: Skrulls serve in it alongside people, and the nod to exolinguistics in the name is not decoration. Alongside the defense work, S.A.B.E.R. keeps files on enhanced individuals as they surface down on Earth.
