Portland is the largest city in the state of Oregon, and it holds Gateway University, the Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health, a symphony orchestra and an international airport of its own. Its best-known entry in the national record left from that airport in 1971, when a passenger travelling under the alias D.B. Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Flight 365 out of Portland, claimed to be carrying a bomb, collected two hundred thousand dollars in ransom and jumped from the aircraft. The manhunt that followed ran nationwide and turned up nobody.
