Muneeba Khan runs the Khan household in Jersey City, and she runs it closely. She and her husband Yusuf came to the United States from Pakistan with a baby son, Aamir, and very little else; Yusuf worked long hours for low pay, Muneeba had almost no English, and between them they built the life the family has now. Her daughter Kamala gets the sharper end of that watchfulness. Muneeba checks on the schoolwork, sets the rules, has no patience for the Avengers obsession or the costume-making, and will defend Kamala to a stranger in the same breath she is scolding her at home. She grew up on Bon Jovi, once running away to see him play. Urdu is her first language.
