Mina Hess

Doctor Mina Hess is an environmental engineer at Roxxon, and the scientist the company puts in front of a camera when it needs one. Her father Ivan Hess was a Roxxon engineer too, on the Gulf Platform the night it came apart, and he has not woken since; she visits the hospital, brings cookies for the nurse, and keeps hoping. Roxxon paid for her degrees and she has spent them on the problem of drilling without a platform, designing a valve system spread across New Orleans on the argument that another rig is a risk nobody should take twice. She lives in a house her father bought near a swamp and goes out into it for the wildlife. She speaks English and French.
