Louise Fisher

Louise Fisher is a flight director at Callisto Aerospace, which in practice means she drives a rover across the surface of the Moon from a control room on Earth. She got there on somebody else's ambition. Her father wanted to go into space and lost the chance when NASA picked pilots over scientists for a Moon mission, and once he was gone she set out to finish what he had started; she carries a toy rocket with his ashes inside it. The work has taken everything else. She never married and says she has grown used to that. She is an engineer as much as a scientist, the sort who takes a machine apart because it happens to be sitting there, and who does not let go of a question once she has hold of it.
