Laufey
The king of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, who once led his people against Earth with the Casket of Ancient Winters, and lost the war that followed to Odin, king against king.
Laufey is the king of the Frost Giants, ruler of the frozen realm of Jotunheim, and the architect of one of the old wars between the realms. He once led his people to Earth to claim it as a new homeworld, wielding the Casket of Ancient Winters, the relic that concentrates the killing cold of his race, and it took Odin and the armies of Asgard to throw the Frost Giants back. The war ended on Jotunheim itself, king against king, and Laufey lost: Asgard carried the Casket away as a prize, leaving his realm beaten, diminished and cold in more than the usual way. Laufey has kept the long peace since the way he fought the war, patiently and bitterly, without ever conceding that it is over.
