Ken Ogden
An earnest young deputy in Larkville County, Ohio, prone to seminar theories and easy cons, who ends up minding the strangers a motel shootout dumps into his sheriff's cells.
Deputy Ken Ogden serves with the Larkville County Sheriff's Department under Sheriff Roy Hardin. Earnest and a little green, Ogden is the kind of small-town deputy who quotes seminar theories about reading a suspect's weak eye, only to get talked out of five dollars by the teenage girl he is supposed to be guarding. Law enforcement runs unevenly in his family: his brother Bruce is better known to the department as an occupant of its drunk cell than as a visitor. When a motel shootout drops three dangerous strangers into the station's custody, Ogden handles the watch shifts, the errands, and the banter that comes with them.
