She funded the build with a university research grant awarded for the project and was cleared to use the school's artificial intelligence to run the suit. The armor amplifies her strength, protects her from impacts and falls that could otherwise do her serious harm, and carries her in flight at speed, covering the distance from Massachusetts to Chicago in a single trip. It also adds to her agility and lets her keep working far longer than her own stamina allows.
