Irani Rael

Nova Prime Irani Rael commands the Nova Corps, the military and police force of the Nova Empire and its homeworld of Xandar. She holds the Corps' highest rank at a fragile moment: after a thousand years of war between the Xandarians and the Kree Empire, a peace treaty has finally been signed, an achievement Rael spent much of her career working toward. The peace is thinner than the paper it is written on. A Kree zealot named Ronan the Accuser rejects the treaty outright and goes on butchering Xandarian outposts, and Rael's appeals to the Kree government to condemn him are waved away by an ambassador with more pressing matters. Sharp-tongued and unbowed, she steers the Corps through the crisis with a diplomat's patience and a soldier's temper.
