Groot (Original)

Rocket's partner in the bounty trade is a walking tree. Groot is a Flora colossus, a species native to Planet X, and his heavy timber build stiffens the organs that produce speech, so everything he says comes out as the same three words: "I am Groot." Rocket, who has worked beside him for years, hears the difference between one and the next. What Groot brings to a job is bulk and reach. His skin is dense wood, he can stretch a limb the length of a corridor, sprout vines and branches at will, and grow back whatever gets cut away. He is also gentler than his size suggests, and drinks out of public fountains when he thinks nobody is looking.
