Francis Xavier Delgado

Father Francis Xavier Delgado is a priest at St. Sebastian's Preparatory School in New Orleans, where he teaches history and serves as one of the school's counselors. He is a recovering alcoholic, sober since before he took orders. Tyrone Johnson has been sent to him since he was a boy, first for counseling after his brother Billy was killed and later whenever his temper puts him in front of a teacher, and Delgado meets him with a mix of patience and stubbornness. In the classroom he is fond of the hero's journey, the shape a story takes and the steps it tends to walk its subject through.
