Charles Hinton

Charles Hinton is a schoolteacher, a husband and a father, until the day he passes through Terrigenesis and comes out changed. The gift the mist leaves him with is a terrible one: any person he touches is shown a vision of a death that is coming, complete and unchangeable. His wife sees a car crash, and her own mother's last days in a hospital. Horrified by what his hands now carry, Hinton leaves his family rather than risk touching them again and disappears onto the streets, where he keeps himself steady by folding little toy robins, one after another, for the daughter he named Robin and cannot go home to.
