It is the neighborhood Steve Rogers grew up in, and in Captain America: The First Avenger the Strategic Scientific Reserve builds the laboratory that houses Project Rebirth beneath an antiques shop there. Howard Stark, who works on the project, jokes that it ought to be called the Brooklyn Project.
