Abraham Erskine

Doctor Abraham Erskine is a German born scientist from Augsburg, noted for his work on a serum meant to raise human strength and ability to superhuman levels, in Captain America: The First Avenger. His research coincided with the rise of Adolf Hitler, and when he refused to work for the Nazis and tried to leave for Switzerland with his family in 1935, the regime sent Johann Schmidt to force him to finish the formula. He got out of Germany with help from Peggy Carter and reached the United States, where Chester Phillips brought him into the Strategic Scientific Reserve to perfect the work. Living in Queens while he worked, he holds that the serum belongs only to a candidate whose character matches its power, and he and Carter set out to find that person.
