Wither
Red-eyed and unnaturally tall, this Tiste Andii shadow wraith is held in bondage by the Tiste Edur and takes the slave Udinaas as his host, riding in the man's shadow and paying for the place with whispered truths.
Uncommonly tall, red-eyed and speaking in a sibilant whisper that only one man can hear, this shadow wraith insists on being called Wither and nothing else. He is a dead Tiste Andii held in bondage by the Tiste Edur, one of the servile spirits his masters set to errands and to watching. Wither approaches the Letherii slave Udinaas after Udinaas' blood is touched by a Wyval during a casting of the Tiles, offering to hide inside his shadow and serve as his eyes behind him, whom no one else can see or hear. Udinaas seals the bargain by lifting an ancient arrowhead out of the sand of the bay, a thing that had once belonged to the wraith. From there Wither whispers truths into his ear and sends him visions of the past, giving a household slave knowledge that no mortal in an Edur village has any business holding.
