The Wastelands, also called the Wastes, are an expanse on the continent of Lether, named in Dust of Dreams. They lie to the south and far east of the lands the Letherii Empire rules, between that empire and the little known territories of Kolanse.
The name is accurate. Accounts of the place describe a blasted and virtually lifeless landscape in which much of the natural plain has been scoured away, leaving spans of broken rock, wind rippled fans of grey sand, and scree. Anyone crossing overland toward Kolanse has to go through it.
