The Three

The Three are the sorcerer kings who have ruled Shal Morzinn for the past thousand years, named in The Bonehunters. They keep their territory closed. Outsiders who cross into it are destroyed as a matter of course, and the Three trade with no neighbour.

For all that, they show no appetite for expansion, and beyond their own region almost nothing is known of them. Those who have left Shal Morzinn and crossed the Three describe power enough to take a whole continent, held in check only by disinterest. Emperor Kellanved and Dancer once sailed to Shal Morzinn to make contact with its rulers, and the Malazan Empire's first visit there is also its last.
