Temper

Temper is a Kanese master swordsman, the first of Ian C. Esslemont's Novels of the Malazan Empire. He has spent over a decade among the retinue of guards known as Dassem's First Sword, sworn to protect the life of the First Sword of the Malazan Empire, a duty the First Sword picked him for on the grounds of his conspicuous pig headedness.

He is a huge man with close cropped hair and a sickle moon scar curving from his left temple down to his chin. He fights with two swords sheathed behind his back, one over each shoulder, and keeps short, blunt daggers beside each hip as backup. His helm is blackened steel with a mail coif, a lobster tail and cheek guards that close into a T shaped vision slit. On cold evenings an old javelin wound in his back, taken from a Seven Cities skirmisher, still troubles him.
