Spindle

Spindle is a mage and sapper with the 7th squad of the Bridgeburners, and the way he channels his warren sets every animal nearby into a panic. He once captained a company of sappers for all of three days, until one of his own soldiers set off a charge and killed most of them. Short, scrawny and bald, he is known chiefly for a rank black and grey hooded hairshirt he says was woven from his dead mother's hair. He will not wash it, on the grounds that she never washed her hair while she lived, and the damaged patches grow back on their own. He speaks of her in the present tense and takes care not to earn her disapproval. His disposition is eternally sour, and he can read the Deck of Dragons and paint copies of the cards for a set of his own.
