A severe, sky-eyed sergeant of heavy infantry in the Malaz 14th Army, eldest of three sergeants who might pass for siblings, and the quietest person in any room she enters.
Grey streaks her shoulder-length black hair, and her eyes are the colour of the sky. Sobelone is a sergeant of heavy infantry in the 9th Company, 8th Legion of the Malaz 14th Army, and a typical mixed breed of Malaz City. She is the eldest of the three heavy sergeants, ahead of Mosel and Tugg, and severe enough in the face that the resemblance among the three of them reads as family. When the sergeants of the reorganised 8th Legion pay their introductory call on Strings, Sobelone says nothing at all for the whole visit. Moak, sergeant of the 11th squad, has a reputation for knowing things he should not, and what he knows he tells only to Tugg and to her.
