Ryllandaras is both Soletaken and D'ivers, known across Quon Tali as the White Jackal, the White Jackal of Winter and Quon's Curse, and he is named in Deadhouse Gates. In his Soletaken shape he stands twice a man's height on all fours and three times that upright, furred sandy yellow, creamy white at throat and chest, streaked grey and dirty yellow down the back.
His limbs run long and wiry and end in amber claws the length of fighting knives, and his eyes are dark carmine. He tosses stone blocks aside without effort and outruns a horse. Those he catches are usually torn apart, and the few who survive the wounds face a deep and virulent infection. Seti folklore holds that he hunts only at night.
