Raraku
The Holy Desert of Seven Cities, an ancient dried sea whose shifting sands uncover old roads and older battlefields, and whose tribes lay false trails across it to kill the unwary.
Raraku, the Holy Desert, lies in the northwest of the Seven Cities subcontinent, west of the Pan'potsun Odhan and between the cities of Ehrlitan and Karashimesh. In the age of the First Empire it was an inland freshwater sea couched in the lap of high mountains, and conch shells and other traces of long dead marine life still litter the old shorelines. Wind strong enough to shift the sand uncovers the remains of vast roads and the wreckage of battles fought past any living memory. The tribes who know the desert lay false trails across it to draw invaders to their deaths. By night the heat drains away into a cold wind and the sand comes alive with rhizan, capemoths, chigger fleas and hunting desert wolves. The Bridgeburners were formed on this ground.
