Phaed is a Tiste Andii of Drift Avalii, the moving island, and one of the young protectors of the Throne of Shadow kept there. She is a granddaughter of Anomander Rake. Her face is flat and heart shaped, her skin the colour of smudged slate, her hair white, and Cutter takes her for about his own age. She is beautiful, her smile is dazzling, and a natural glamour hangs about her that takes the breath of anyone meeting her for the first time. None of Rake's kin who guard the Throne seem especially familiar with their own arms or weaponry.
