Nimander Golit is a young Tiste Andii and the first son of Anomander Rake. He comes from the moving island of Drift Avalii, where he lived with his uncle Andarist among a scattered company of Andii children and cousins.
He wears a heavy dark blue woollen cloak and carries a sword he handles about as well as any young man of middling training, all the while daydreaming that the skill is that of a heroic defender of Mother Dark. He reaches Malaz City as a castaway with six other Andii survivors, after a wreck on an atoll and months of living on coconut milk and clams.
