Nameless Ones

The Nameless Ones are an ancient cult devoted to the Azath Houses, and they name themselves the hands of the Azath and the shapers of its will. The work they claim is to hold all things in place, to mend what has been torn apart, and to drive their enemies into annihilation or unending imprisonment. Trell legend traces them to the First Empire, where they were one of two sects meant to serve as clasped guiding hands until they were led from their god and cast out to bow before a new master. Even then they counted as a cult, and they were thought to have been stamped out. They go in dark or grey hooded robes, sometimes veiled in grey beneath the hood, and carry wooden staffs whose runic etching seems to writhe and rewrite itself under an unseen hand. They are practised in rituals of binding and unbinding, and read the stars, planets, and constellations for their more complex rites.
