Malaz City is the port town of the island of Malaz, spread beneath the limestone cliff where Mock's Hold stands, and a vital port of call for the Empire.
Its poorest quarter, the Mouse, sprawls along the inland edge in hovels and overgrown tiers, split by a silty river that crawls toward the harbour. Riots there can send columns of black smoke over the rooftops. Fiddler of the Bridgeburners calls one of the city's alleys his birthplace and learned stone-cutting by breaking into barrows on the plain behind the hold.
