Letheras

Letheras is the capital of the kingdom of Lether. It is a walled river city of domes, towers, terraces, and garishly painted buildings, crossed by canals and bridges where the Lether River runs through its center. Wealth is the city's true faith: fortunes, debts, and schemes drive life at every level, from the royal court of King Ezgara Diskanar down to crowded alleys that never see daylight beneath their overhanging balconies. The city is far older than the kingdom it rules. Its streets stand upon buried ruins and ancient tombs that its own scholars only partly understand, and among its oldest grounds rises a shunned, overgrown tower older than every written record.
