Korbal Broach

Korbal Broach is a necromancer introduced to the Malazan Book of the Fallen in Memories of Ice, traveling the roads of Genabackis by black carriage with his partner Bauchelain and their long-suffering manservant Emancipor Reese. He is a huge, pale, bald man with an oversized round face at once childlike and monstrous, and for all his bulk he moves with a fluid grace. In company he stays silent, letting Bauchelain speak for the pair, and when he does speak his voice is unexpectedly soft. He is immensely strong, heals quickly, and worships no god; his interests run to the night side of the necromantic arts, and the pair's habits explain why they seldom linger anywhere long. In Memories of Ice the two ride toward the threatened city of Capustan, drawn by professional curiosity about the coming siege.
