Khundryl Burned Tears
Three thousand Khundryl warriors under the warleader Gall, black tears tattooed on their cheeks and crow wings on their forearms, who rode beside Coltaine's Wickans at Sanimon.
The Burned Tears are three thousand warriors of the Khundryl, the mightiest tribe of Seven Cities south of Vathar, riding under the warleader Gall. They fought beside Fist Coltaine and the Malazan 7th Army at the Battle of Sanimon, where they rode out to test themselves against the rival tribes of the odhans and came away judging Coltaine's Wickan Crow clan the most powerful force on the plains. Each of them wears patterns of black tears tattooed down the cheeks. Their armour is an eclectic collection of bronze scale, crow-winged helms and a strange greyish hide that looks almost reptilian and weighs heavily enough to trouble their horses, worn under black telabas and furs. They decorate their forearms with crow wings and their ears with crow feet in honour of Coltaine's clan, and they carry countless standards topped with ragged streamers, antlers, horns and skulls.
