Kalam Mekhar
Kalam Mekhar was a black-skinned, bear-like assassin from Seven Cities, once among the Claw's finest, who had found his way into the Bridgeburners alongside his oldest friend, Quick Ben.
Kalam Mekhar has a scarred face, and he is given to waiting crouched on his haunches, hands tucked into his sleeves or a dagger idly scratching lines in the dirt. He speaks softly, in an accent Tattersail hears as melodic and round, and he holds the rank of corporal under Sergeant Whiskeyjack.
Kalam has pulled on old threads of his own and come back sure that somebody high up has the squad marked, whether the court itself or the nobility. After four captains in three years, not one of them worth his salt, he expects nothing good of the new captain from Unta.
