Holy Falah'd
The title carried by the rulers of the holy cities of Seven Cities, seven in number and often addressed as Holy One.
Holy Falah'd is the title carried by the rulers of the holy cities of the Seven Cities subcontinent, and it is first named in Gardens of the Moon. Seven such cities means seven Falah'd at any one time, though the lists of cities and the lists of rulers do not always agree with each other.
The honorific Holy attaches to the title in formal use, giving Holy Falah'd, and Holy Falah'dan in the plural. A ruler is often addressed simply as Holy One, and the title travels in company with the rank of Holy Protector. Some of them, perhaps all, are priest mages as well as rulers. Under Malazan occupation the office survives in the subjugated cities, with some holders taking the empire's side.
