High Fort
A Letherii fortress on pastureland near the Katter River, ringed by earthworks and bastions above the old drainage course called the Dry Gully, five days' march north of First Reach.
High Fort stands on pastureland just south of a forest that hides the Katter River. Corner bastions mounting ballistae and mangonels overlook its walls, and fortified earthen ramparts ring it beyond them. An old drainage course called the Dry Gully runs across the field from hills a thousand paces to the north, with three ramparts running parallel to it; the easternmost and largest carries a stone-walled fort, and the fortress' largest bastion tower looks down on the westernmost, which guards the gully itself. The roads south to First Reach are kept in good repair and a battalion can march them in five days. When war opens between the Kingdom of Lether and the Tiste Edur, Fear Sengar's army masses along the tree line across the pasture while Queen Janall, Prince Quillas and the Grass Jackets Brigade hold the works outside and the garrison lines the walls.
