Hiam

Lord Protector of the Stormwall, the highest office in the Stormguard and in all of the Korel subcontinent, Hiam came to the Wall as a volunteer and has served on it for more than thirty years. He is a devout follower of Our Lady the Blessed Saviour and a popular commander, knowing many of the Chosen by name and stressing at every turn the greatness of their task. He takes the wall himself when the Stormriders come and can hold for close to two watches before tiring, though he is no great spearman and a bodyguard of six sees to it that he comes to no harm. He has a greying beard and an unkempt mane of thick hair, and something young in his manner. Over his uniform he wears a heavy layered cloak of dark blue wool the year round. He is a reader of books and scrolls and a student of history, which makes it stranger to Wall Marshal Quint how casually he can set aside what their predecessors learned the hard way.
