Hairlock

Hairlock is a mage of the Malazan 2nd Army's cadre, serving under Tattersail. Squat and sun-darkened, a native of Seven Cities, he has thick arms and the straddle-legged swagger of a wrestler, small dark eyes, yellow teeth, a scarred and flattened brow, wide jowls and a shaved head, his nose mashed out of true. He sweats profusely whatever the temperature and dresses above his station, in satin slippers and brocaded sleeves. He fought against the Empire in his homeland and, once Aren fell, was offered the choice between death and service; he joined the cadre at Pan'potsun. His warren goes unnamed, but Tattersail knows its power runs contrary to her own Thyr. He resents her promotion to cadre commander over him.
