Fener is the god Malazans call the Boar of Summer, a name they invoke in blessings and in oaths alike.
Heboric, chained in a line of prisoners, has the face of Fener's beast inked over his own, with curled fur and hooves running down to his feet, and the flies that crawl over him never touch a single inked line. He says he left Fener's service years ago, yet Fener's mark will not wash from his skin. At one horror he breathes a plea for Fener's mercy, and the wizard Quick Ben makes an oath of Fener's tail.
