Eternal Domicile
The Eternal Domicile is the new palace climbing above the centre of Letheras to replace the old one, a building so demanding that four royal architects took their own lives over its dome.
From his rooftop, Tehol Beddict watches workers clamber over its dome and mocks King Ezgara Diskanar's grand project as eternally unfinished. Five wings ring the dome, each four tiers high save the shoreside one, which has only two, and the fifth wing looks to Tehol as if the builders have given up on it. With the leaks in its high roof mended, the king sets about moving the royal seat of power there. Tehol proposes that his new partners buy seven properties beside the fifth wing, going cheap because the ground beneath them is giving way.
