Eleint

The Eleint are the true dragons of the Malazan world, a race apart from every people that walks it. Ancient and immense, they belong to sorcery in a way nothing else does, and their home is Starvald Demelain, counted among the eldest of the Elder Warrens; the few Eleint abroad in the world move through its ages like forces of nature, rarely seen and long remembered. The name also serves to distinguish the pure-blooded dragons from Soletaken who merely take draconic form. Dragons enter the Malazan Book of the Fallen in its first book, Gardens of the Moon, and they remain rare presences afterward, regarded with wariness even by elder races and elder gods. In the oldest tales dragonkind and raw sorcery are spoken of as nearly the same thing.
